I spent the summer of 1967 living with my grandfather, Dee Childers, in South Lake Tahoe working at Harvey’s Wagon Wheel casino and restaurant. I got off work early afternoons and would take my guitar and sit overlooking the beach and write songs.
I was part of a band, back in Gridley. We had decided we’d all work that Summer and buy better instruments for when we got back together in the Fall. I was supposed to buy a nice electric guitar, but fell in love with an Epiphone acoustic and bought it instead. I named it ‘Angie’.
Here’s a picture of me with ‘Angie’.
